Scientific research in Francophone Africa and its impact on development is a growing concern for public authorities and research actors. While it is true that governments and individuals are sometimes pessimistic about the possibility of progress towards solving these problems, there is no denying real progress. The number of researchers in developing countries is infinitely greater than it was 20 years ago. There is, however, a significant gap between what is desirable and what has been achieved.
